Installing Exhaust Fan Cover

Nov 15th

Exhaust fan cover – There are bathroom exhaust air fans in several different types. The kit can include only a fan, a combination of a fan and light, a fan, light and heater kit or any of these variations, including a timer. The fan and light kit can work either independently or with the use of a switch. The simplest installation for homeowners with limited electrical experience is the fan and light combination that works with a switch. This installation involves only two electrical wiring already in place in the bathroom wall. The other methods involve 3:57 wires for multiple operations.

Safety First

Turn off the electricity to the bathroom circuit before starting any work to avoid hazards. When removing the wall area to place your bathroom exhaust fan cover, set the saw to a very shallow depth that is the thickness of the outer part of the wall. For example, set the depth to 1/2 inch for sheetrock and 1/4 inch for panels. Begin by sowing only a small portion of the size you need and lift the surface slightly with a sturdy screwdriver to peek into the area. Look inside to make sure that you will not cut through all the wires that may be hot or may need a joint when cut. As soon as you remove that part of the wall and see wires, use an electrical tester to make sure there is no current flowing to the area where you work.

Investment

The best area for placing a bathroom exhaust fan cover on the wall is at the center of a tap or crossbar on an exterior wall. This method provides enough support for the device as it will be screwed into a solid wood area and requires no additional framing to ensure durability. A bathroom fan must be vented to the outside to work properly and avoid moisture build up. Avoid fans venting into the wall and moving air into the windshield – they just penetrate bathroom moisture on the wind.

Bathroom exhaust air fans play an important role in circulating air and prevent moisture build in the bathrooms. When the fans do not work, the most effective repair is to replace the fan unit. This is a relatively simple procedure that removes the fan engine cover and removes the retaining screws that hold the old fan in place and insert a new device. The replacement process is simple and cheap and can be completed in 5 to 10 minutes.
