Laminate table tops are popular kitchen areas, but they lack the long-term durability of granite or other types of worktops fixed surface. Worn laminate discs can be exchanged at a minimal cost; with a general access to ready-to-install countertops in most home improvement centers, new laminate counters do a good DIY project.
Make a diagram of your kitchen and measure the front and rear edges of each part of the existing countertop there. If you change the cabinet configuration or install the laminate table tops in a new kitchen. Determine the size of the tops for a new cabinet configuration by placing a 2/1 inch overhang to the ends of cabinets that do not dirt appliances such as the stove or refrigerator.

On these sections, the worktops should end up with or just 1/16 inches past the end of the cabinets. Before removing the existing tops, turn off the water supply lines to the sink. These valves are usually located in the cabinet under the sink. Remove the disc from the bottom of the sink, if available, and save them (if you have not purchased a new sink). Unscrew the water supply lines from the bottom of the faucet. You can leave the faucet in place if it is connected directly to the sink and not to the counter. Apply pressure from the bottom of the sink to push it up and out of the old sink. If it is attached, use a knife and cut the silicone seal between the sink flange and the countertop.
Connect the bench sections where they are connected to each other in the corners. Usually they are connected with bolts on the underside of the seams. Release the nuts on one side until the contact bolts release. Unscrew the worktop from the cabinet tops. The screw heads are located on the underside of the cabinet tops. Cut tightly between the backsplash and the walls and remove the worktops. If you reuse the sink, save the section with zinc cutouts for use as a template. Scrape all joints or glue away the tops of the cabinet and remove any protruding screws.
When all new laminate table tops pieces have trimmed to size, place them on top of the cabinets and dry them to look for any problems stains or pieces that do not fit. Apply gables to the worktop before installing. Most gables are attached using a hot iron; some require the use of contact cement. The end caps rarely fit properly, so you may need to allow some time to submit them to the correct form.
